With our auditions this fall being fully online, I wanted to address some FAQ's that may help us all prepare for our upcoming November 4th deadline:
1. New CCM categories: We have three-- High School, Collegiate and adult. Children can sing in any style, so no need for a separate category there
2. Judging Preferences: Please update your judging preferences in the system. Since we don't have to deal with room logistics we have a wonderful opportunity to align your assigned categories with your expertise!
3. Time limits: they still apply-- if a category has a 10 minute limit, we will listen to the songs in the order they are listed, and will stop after 10 minutes. Cuts are allowed in piano introductions, interludes and playouts.
4. Registration/Payment: At the state level, this is handled by teachers-only! no students may register themselves
5. Residence requirements: Many of us are teaching via zoom which means greater geographical flexibility. Students are entered based on the TEACHER'S place of residence. So if you have a student in New York, they may still enter our Michigan auditions
6. Legality of use of student pics/videos: There is a box in the registration process which indicates that NATS has the student's (or guardian's) permission to use their image/video in promotional material. PLEASE discuss this with your student's before checking the box. By leaving it un-checked then NATS would have to contact the student directly prior to using their videos. Leaving the box un-checked will not stall registration or affect the student's participation in any way.
Hope these help to address some common questions. Be on the lookout for an email inviting you to a Zoom meeting for all adjudicators. If you are unable to attend in person I will record the session. This will take the place of our typical day-of morning meeting. Please be in touch, as always, with questions or concerns!
Thanks,
Alta
Greetings to you all, Michigan NATS members! This is just a quick note to let you know that your Michigan NATS Board has voted to hold our fall auditions online again this year. Our timeline will be similar to last year: September 20: Online Registration Opens November 5: Registration closes at 11:59 pm November 6-8: Audition committee reviews entries November 9-15: Online adjudication takes place This schedule is subject to revision, but please consider November 5th to be the deadline for the purposes of planning for your students. I will send out a full final schedule and information as soon as possible. The Board is interested in sponsoring the membership of a Student member (graduate student or undergraduate student with a strong interest in teaching) who would help us coordinate our social media and be a programming consultant. If you have any students who might fit the bill, please contact me to nominate them: altadantzler@oakland.edu Lastly, please note that the
